an interesting conversation, inspiring young minds to learn more.
The SUN and STARS
The sun is a bright ball made of super-hot gases and it is considered a star. On a clear, cloudless evening, take a look into the sky and every star you see is actually another sun, just very, very far away!
Common fossil fuels are COAL, NATURAL GAS, and PETROLEUM (OIL). Scientists believe that these fuels came from the dead remains of organisms, underground, such as plants and animals. The amount of fossil fuels on our planet is “finite”, meaning that once used up, they are gone and not nonrenewable.
A single candle flame burns around 1800 degrees Fahrenheit.
Fire is a chemical reaction that releases heat and light. It requires fuel, air(oxygen) and heat to burn. It can be very useful as the heat can be used for cooking food and keeping warm. A good example is a campfire. Before you take the kids on their next camping trip, make sure to get our FREE Camping book. You can download it HERE.
Trees are tall plants made from wood. They can live for thousands of years. Paper is made from trees along with a countless number of products such as guitars, pianos, baseball bats, hockey sticks and bowling pins. Trees are a natural, renewable energy resource in that they can be reproduced (grown) to continuously provide useful products. But also, the wood from trees can be used as firewood, a fuel used to keep us warm and cook our food. Discover more facts about trees in our FREE TREE BOOK…get it HERE!
